In a new @hurdleapparel blog, @pallas.io founder and coach @markoffad discusses his time in Special Forces, his struggle to transition to civilian life as a veteran and find his purpose again, and why he started Pallas: to help others accomplish physically intimidating goals, in a way that serves them. “I believe service is a cycle, with two phases: selfish service and selfless service. Selfish service is about working on yourself. You can’t serve others until you’ve conquered yourself. You have to discover your values, build grit, and develop skills so that you actually have something to give back. Then you are ready for selfless service. I also believe that you can’t stay in either phase forever. If you spend every day of your life doing hard things to improve yourself, you end up being selfish. On the other hand, if you don’t take care of yourself, you lose your ability to serve.

Pallas’ mission is to help people leverage sport in support of their personal missions. How we support our athletes depends on the phase of service that they are in. Some of our athletes are at a stage where they need to detach and go after that crazy goal they’ve always wanted to achieve and never made time for. They need to fill the well so they can continue to serve productively. In this category, we currently have athletes training to swim the English Channel, climb El Capitan, and qualify for the Ironman World Championships.
We have other athletes who are recent start-up founders. They may want to climb Denali, but the reality is that they don’t have time at this phase in their lives. They are working 120 hours a week. What these athletes need are time efficient, attainable goals, such as adding 50 pounds to their back squat one rep max, so that they can stay healthy and keep trying to save the world. Someday, when it’s time for them to detach and work on themselves, they’ll have the foundational fitness to go after their crazy, athletic goals.”

EXCITING NEWS! We are running pregnancy & postpartum training & nutrition webinar series with Jen Scott, RD, LDN & Megan Jones, DPT, OCS, P&PA.
Each webinar can be attended individually or all together depending on where you are at in your perinatal journey. The webinars will cover pregnancy exercise modifications, pelvic floor, core, & return to training postpartum. Nutritional needs will be discussed on a trimester basis, & will also cover food & snack ideas, lactation, how to tell if you’re supporting your baby’s needs, & more!

We couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that Megan Jones @reclaimfxn (DPT, OCS, P&PA) has joined the Pallas Team. Megan has prepared two new @pallas.io training plans to help new mothers and postpartum individuals return to lifting and running after giving birth.
Return to lifting postpartum: A 12-week program that focuses on early pelvic floor & core rehab with progression to barbell lifting. Feel confident that you are returning to lifting with a reduced risk for injury.
Return to run postpartum: A 12-week program that focuses on early return to run postpartum program. This program is based on the latest evidence and guidelines for runners postpartum. We focus on early pelvic floor and core reintegration, progression to single leg strength and stability, and impact readiness so you can return to run with reduced risk for injury.

Prior to having her daughter, Penelope, Megan competed in local CrossFit competitions and masters field hockey tournaments. She even dabbled in a few marathons over the years. Then in 2019, Megan traded in her whoop app and 8hrs of sleep for a diaper tracking app & sleepless nights when she became a mom. Megan now focuses on functional fitness to keep up with the extreme energy demands of a toddler.
Megan became passionate about prenatal exercise and postpartum rehab after having Penelope when she realized there is a significant knowledge gap in how to train pregnant and postpartum athletes.
Megan has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University, is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, and is a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach. She spent the past decade working with tactical athletes at various military installations.
Megan has taken her extensive training, expertise with working with athletes, and experience as a mom to bring the best training to prenatal & postpartum athletes. She looks forward to changing the narrative around fitness during the perinatal period.

Welcome to the team Coach @bwarly ! Brittany will be primarily working with endurance-based athletes as well as rock climbers! Read about Brittany’s background below:
Brittany believes that growth in life happens when we make ourselves uncomfortable. As a kid, she feared deep water, couldn’t swim without plugging her nose, & hated going fast downhill. So, naturally, she left D1 tennis in college to pursue the perfect sport for her, elite triathlon. It seemed like a good match.
After she didn’t die (though that’s what she thought would happen), she jumped into her literal fear pool with both feet & hasn’t looked back.
Growing up as a multi-sport athlete training at academies, camps, olympic training centers, traveling alone around the world, pursuing an engineering degree, & trying to be a good sister & daughter has given Britt tremendous insight about maintaining balance in life & what coaching styles do & do not work.
Now, she guides her clients & athletes towards becoming the best versions of themselves by helping them overcome their fears & create work-life balance, all while achieving their goals.
